Your Recommendations

Part of the fun of wine tasting is sharing your opinions with fellow wine drinkers. This blog was primarily designed for me to keep track of my wine journey, but I also welcome any recommendations you might have. If there is a particular red wine you enjoyed and think I should try, please leave me details in the comments below. I will give you an acknowledgement in my blog when I review it!

I am also looking for recommended food pairings, as well. I'm still learning the intricacies of wine and food combinations.

If you've tried a wine I've reviewed on my blog, please find it in the archive list on the right side (under The Wine Bottles) and leave a comment on that particular post. I'd love to hear what you thought of it!

Cheers!

  1. One of my most recent favorites was a 2008 Honig Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley. We paired it with blue cheeses, and I thought it worked really well. It was everything I like in a cabernet sauvignon - dry, a little spicy, and a lot of depth. Here's the winery's page:

  2. If you'd like to try a red wine from south of the border, try one of the high-altitude Argentinian Malbecs. I had a don Rudolfo 2010 that was pretty nice. Most of the South American Malbecs are inexpensive (I've even had a passable one for $4.99 a bottle), and I've never really had a truly obnoxious one.

From the back of the Rudolfo bottle:

At 6.000 feet, Cafayate Valley is among the world's highest viticultural regions. 200-year-old Vina Cornejo Costas, with it's state of the art facilities, is the oldest winery in the Valley. This Malbec (the signature red variety of Argentina) is big, rich, and deeply flavored, with notes of reed berries, cassis, and plums.
